We care about student mental health.

One team member’s son died by suicide in college, another team member struggled to access counseling services on her campus, and our founder worried about his own sons when he learned of the student mental health crisis in the United States.

We felt compelled to act.

In 2018, we created UniWellness, a telemental health platform that expands and enhances the reach of university counseling centers.

We believe in meeting students where they are.

UniWellness was founded on three core beliefs:

  1. Students deserve access to the mental health services they need while they pursue higher education.
  2. Students should not worry about cost or transportation when trying to access the mental health services they need.
  3. Colleges should play an active role in their students’ success by providing access to mental health services to every student who needs it.

With our team’s expertise in building live video and audio applications and our personal experience in student mental health advocacy, we are filling gaps in student mental health care that allow thousands of students to fall through the cracks each year.

Up to 50% of college students have a mental health condition, but less than one-third of them receive treatment. 1,100 college students die by suicide each year, but only 14% of them ever stepped foot in their campus counseling center. Every student experiences the stress that comes with this major life transition, but thousands of them never receive support for their mental health or social-emotional well-being.

UniWellness is here to help you help them.

As a father of two teenagers, Arin passionately believes that young adults should have access to the care they need no matter where they are when they need it. When he founded UniWellness in 2018 and began talking to people about ideas for applying telehealth technology to youth mental health care, he was both saddened and inspired by the many stories that people shared about how they had also been affected by the mental health crisis.
